Dropped by lunch and was hugely disappointed. Trust me when I say I know what authentic Jamaican and/or island food should taste like and sadly this place is not serving that. The location is pretty good because it is located in a shopping center that gets a lot of foot traffic. I visit this shopping center quite often to get lunch but I've never seen a line in this restaurant BUT I decided to give it a shot anyway. They have a lot of seating space. Bright colors. Looks to be a clean establishment. The TV AND radio was on. They were both playing so loud I got confused as to what the heck I was listening too and was wondering why in the world it was so darn loud if 1) NO ONE is in there eating and 2) they do not have a bar so it's not like a sports bar atmosphere so why is the volume on the TV set to "screaming"...I just don't know. I digress. I ordered the jerk wings with rice and peas and cabbage. The rice and peas was overcooked and mushed together, cabbage was just ok, the chicken...biggest disappointment. They served me broken pieces and I do mean literally broken pieces of chicken (white and dark meat). That kind of turned me off the moment I looked at it but I remained optimistic. Then I noticed that the sauce on the chicken looked like thick dark BBQ sauce...OMG can this get any worse! Jerk is a sauce with plenty of spices such as ground cloves, cumin, red pepper flakes, etc. This sauce tasted like it had BBQ sauce in it #confusedlook What the what?!?! Who does that?? Ugh utter disappoint!! Nothing worse than a restaurant who can't make there specialty dishes. Sad to say but I don't think I will check this place out for while. They clearly need to go back to the drawing board with their chef. Off to Muffin Man (Lanham, Maryland) I go....

No sir, never again. I went for carryout and got a jerk chicken sandwich for $6.49. When I tell you no whole part of a chicken was on that sandwich, and just a few sprigs of lettuce, and the nastiest thick sweet sauce that no one would claim as "jerk" flavored. It was nothing I would ever eat again. To think I had to wait in line for that....I will never be back again to that restaurant. Save your money and go somplace else.

I was in the mood for some Caribbean food (well not so much Caribbean food but a good jerk chicken sandwich) so I decided since I was in the area that I would give them a try especially since the YELP reviews (misleading) gave them good reviews. It was lunch time & they weren't very crowded, #1...especially since Chick-fil-a was jumping. We ordered the jerk chicken lunch special & a jerk chicken platter. #2 was my friend had to send his food back because it was not temperature hot, so they shoved it in the microwave...why isn't the food hot when you open at 11, your not crowded & it's only a little after 12, EPIC FAIL! #3 was that they told me that my sandwich & fries would be about 5 min, so I waited & waited...you would have thought that it would have came out pipping hot, WRONG! The food was palatable but something is awry...I guess next time I'll take that extra 5 mile drive to Negril, at least I know I won't be disappointed. On the upside, the staff is nice, lol but niceness don't pay the bills unfortunately!

Food was great. Wish I knew I could have gotten another sandwich and they deliver. I definitely would go back I'm down here all the time

This place used to be okay when it was at the blvd. Came for some curry chicken and received the worst service. The soda was putting out water. I let someone know and the manager came out and asked what the problem was. I told him didn't work. He tried it then said well if it doesn't work it doesn't work and walked away. I never bothered to taste the food and asked for my money back Just a very disappointing experience. Will not visit again. I would give it zero stars if I could.

I mean... It's perfectly adequate Jamaican food if you haven't really had very good Jamaican food, which I have had the pleasure to experience being that I'm from the Jamaican food Capital of the United States. I'd have to say their rice and beans is very well made. Their brown stew chicken is delicious and their jerk chicken is spot on when it comes to the right mix of flavor and heat. To top it off they have nice and moist cakes for your sweet tooth pleasures. I love their ackee and salt fish and their callaloo is pretty good too. Not a fan of their chicken patties - it was more like a chicken pot pie patty because it had peas, carrots, and corn in it instead of nice chunks of curried chicken. The servers are very cool too, with just the right amount of sass that is expected from some rude gyals.

Um...yes! This place is great! I had the veggie platter with dirty rice and a side of coco bread and fried plantains! Killer meal! Why the hell is there a line at Chipotle a couple doors down when this place is here!?!

I ended up at this restaurant because the line for chipotle was super long. It was 20 minutes before closing. I ordered the curry chicken entree which comes with cabbage and white rice /rice and peas. The lady working there informed me that there would be a five minute wait for the chicken. The wait was no problem. She also told me that there was no cabbage and nothing I could substitute it for. I wasn't happy but I just waned to eat because I was starving. I receive no discount for my meal being incomplete. When I finally got home and opened the box I knew it was going to be gross. The chicken was looked like it had been microwaved. The gravy was thin and didn't look like it had ever been mixed with the chicken. The only herb I could taste was cloves. It was awful. Then I remember it being the same place that served me nasty food about 4 years ago in the Blvd. New location same nasty food.

The food here is not great - it is cafeteria style, so what we had was stale. We will not go back.

Let me just say that everything I purchased from this establishment was DELICIOUS. I had the jerk chicken entree with rice and peas and cabbage, fried plantains and a slice of rum cake. My cousin had the curry chicken with the same sides and dessert and a chicken patty. Of course I sampled some of her food and was not disappointed. Everything was perfect and eaten within minutes. I wish we had more places like this gem where I live.

Doesn't taste like authentic Jamaican food.

I really wanted this new spot to succeed because when they were at the Blvd I went there frequently and hated to see them go - not because the food was outstanding, but because it was very convenient if you ever had a hankering for some Jamaican fare that tasted homemade and fresh. I guess they didn't renew their Blvd lease because it was getting too expensive, hence the continuously rising prices before they closed. So when they relocated to Cap Height I was hoping they could "set it and forget it" with their prices, at least for a while. Not to be. They opened a year ago and have increased their prices steadily since. The oxtail is now $14, which is a stretch considering it's not all that great. They've also raised their prices on a few other items, and depending on who's serving that day you may pay $4 for 7 plantains or 14 plantains. There's no standardization with their portions. I go here mostly for the curry chicken, which isn't all that great but for $7 it's the best deal they've got going. It's not at all spicy but seasoned fairly well. I also like their "rum cake" which is a complete misnomer because there ain't a lick of rum in that thing. It's just very sweet and really moist. My friend and I had the "jerk" once and I use air quotes because they only thing jerk about that chicken has to be the person who cooks it. No way in Memphis it can be classified as jerk. It's more like baked chicken with some jerk sauce on it. The cucumber juice is delicious and on the rare occasion I feel like a baller I'll drop the $4 on it. Actually, all of the fresh juices are pretty good. Tip: Ask for a sample. They'll let you try before you buy. I hate that they no longer open for breakfast (guess it wasn't cost effective) and they could stand to improve on service. When the (female) owner is there she is super friendly and greets you with a smile. But when she leaves the young kids in charge you'll basically wait an unnecessarily long time to get served cafeteria style. if they were to improve their service they would probably do a little better in ratings because the food isn't where they'll get rave reviews.

there's never really a line so you get your food pretty fast you get pretty nice sized portions and it's quiet nice pop in pop out let's spot definitely not dying in spots unless you like sitting alone

Being from the islands i can be very picky when it comes to Caribbean food but for a quick bite to eat Irie is acceptable. I like their oxtail with rice and peas side order of plantains. They have enough seating that you can sit and wat while it's still hot.

I went here on Friday for carry out. The place never looks busy so I was leery to go. But, I took a chance. I ordered curry coat, rice and peas and mixed cabbage. It wasn't bad for lunch and the price points aren't bad. The portion sizes were quite a bit. It's better than fast food. I'd come back. As far as dining in, it lacks the ambiance to attract more people in and the food set-up...cafeteria style doesn't seem appealing to me. A smaller more quaint space would've probably worked better. But, as far as the food it's not bad.
